Make Your Voice Heard

With the voice of the local shepherd, Catholic radio can be an even more powerful instrument for the new evangelization.

Make Your Voice Heard found its genesis from the CRA’s Episcopal Advisory Board at its 2009 meeting. The convened bishops saw the impact Catholic radio was having in the Church and in accomplishing the Five Goals of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, even with its young age and modest episcopal involvement. They charged the Catholic Radio Association with making Catholic Radio’s impact and potential known to the entire body of Bishops in the U.S. and to the USCCB.

The Catholic Radio Association serves as the trade association for Catholic radio. It seeks to unite all involved in Catholic radio, including stations, program providers, and Church Hierarchy. As a trade association, the CRA works to advance the cause of Catholic radio by providing member services, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and resources, and representing its members’ interests.

The Association’s membership includes virtually all Catholic radio apostolates in the country, program providers, and several (arch) dioceses. Over the past 10 years the Association has helped Catholic radio grow at an average rate of over one new station per month.

An effort currently underway will yield an additional 100 noncommercial FM stations in the next 3-4 years. A projected Low Power FM application window by the FCC in 2013 will provide for nearly complete coverage of the United States and the lowest cost method of establishing a Catholic radio station.
